I am so excited and, honestly, extremely nervous to start this new journey and to let people in on what I have been doing since January of this year. For years I have been trying to find my own niche and a way to help my family financially. In 2020, I went as far as purchasing a sphynx kitten to breed. A couple months later I found out we were pregnant with our third child! We dealt with a lot of complications during that pregnancy. With bed rest I knew my sphynx cat wasn't and wouldn't get the proper care that she deserved, so I ended up having to sell her. And I felt like I was back at square one once again.
I grew up always having my Mema living close by. When I was really young I remember watching her, my great aunts, and my aunt always doing different projects with yarn and it fascinated me! I never could fully get the hang of crocheting though. Fast forward to almost a year after I had my first child in 2012 and I found myself at a JoAnn's store with a how to crochet book in my hands. I was determined to do something for myself and start a hobby after becoming a mother. I started off making granny squares and then decided to push myself a little further and made my first stuffed animal!
Over the past 10 years I have crocheted blankets and plushies for people without thinking that it could actually be a business opportunity for me. After discovering that there actually is a demand for these items online I decided to give it a try. So, in January I started an Instagram and opened up an Etsy site. Over time I realized the Etsy site just wasn't for me, so I have been slowly working on my own website. And here we are today!
I am so nervous to put my work out there for everyone to see, but I am going to continue to push myself outside of my comfort zone and I hope you come along with me! I plan on opening up a shop on the website later this month. I have a lot to learn about operating a website, but I'm excited for the journey ahead!
Here is a photo of my first ever plushie! It amazed me to see how far I have come over the years! Of course my first plushie had to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
